Southern California-Based Timeshare Rental Company Presents Check to Therapeutic Horseback Riding Program in Scottsdale, Arizona
SCOTTSDALE, AZ, September 22, 2015 – ResorTime, the nightly rental arm of Southern California-based Grand Pacific Resorts, donated $2,500 to Hunkapi Programs on September 18, 2015, after the therapeutic riding program received the most votes in ResorTime’s giving contest, beCause Destination Matters. Renee Wagner, director of marketing at Grand Pacific Resorts, presented the check to Terra Schaad, executive director of Hunkapi, at the non-profit’s headquarters in Scottsdale, Arizona.
“We are humbled and grateful,” said Schaad. “I want to thank ResorTime for what you do and for considering us in your contributions.” Hunkapi entered the contest for the second quarter of 2015, competing with two national organizations, the Pro Player and Project Athena Foundations.
Thousands of people voted and overwhelmingly supported Hunkapi. ResorTime has also launched a “10 for 10” offer, in which vacationers can save ten percent on their vacation and ten percent of the proceeds are donated to Hunkapi. The goal is to raise an additional $2,500 to provide 30 hours of therapy to a local child with autism. Visit ResorTime.com/First-and-Ten for the promo code.
“Our giving program, beCause Destination Matters, is special because it supports the causes that matter to our customers,” said Wagner. “It provides everyone an opportunity to give back at any level. You can submit a story, vote, share, or book a vacation.” Approximately 6,000 ResorTime customers live in Arizona, which may have contributed to Hunkapi’s success in the contest.
In a gesture of gratitude for the donation, Hunkapi provided a two-hour therapeutic riding session to Glendale, Arizona, resident Renee Figueroa and her seven children, four of whom have special needs. A video of the special day can be viewed here.
The Figueroa family received a sponsored vacation from Grand Pacific Resorts in May 2015 as part of the company’s Extraordinary Vacations program with Send Me On Vacation (SMOV), a non-profit that works with breast cancer survivors.
According to Wagner, “Hunkapi touched the hearts of the people who matter to us, and we wanted to do more than just write a check. We were thrilled when we realized that the Figueroa family lives in the area and could benefit from Hunkapi’s services.”
