February
San Diego Museum Month
Discover the arts, historical sites, entertainment and culture that enrich the San Diego experience. For 27 years February has been the month to celebrate over 40 area museums, including San Diego’s Natural History Museum, Air & Space Museum, and the new Children’s Museum, with half price admission. Carlsbad Flower Fields: March 1 – May 14
Experience Spring in full bloom at the Carlsbad Flower Fields! Watch the rolling hills transform into a colorful wonderland as nearly fifty acres of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus flowers bloom for six to eight weeks. It’s a family friendly affordable way to welcome the arrival of Spring in Southern California.
June
Rock N Roll Marathon: June 4th
Celebrating 20 years in 2017, the Rock N Roll Marathon brings more than 20,000 runners to the streets of San Diego. Infusing music and a party-like atmosphere makes this marathon fun for participants and spectators.
San Diego County Fair: June 2 – July 4
A local favorite, the San Diego County Fair is an exciting mixture of food and entertainment. From deep fried Oreos and carnival rides, to farm animals and thoroughbred horses, find out “Where the West is Fun” at this year’s San Diego County Fair.
July
Del Mar Races: July 19 – September 5
“Where the turf meets the surf” is synonymous to horse racing season at the iconic Del Mar Thoroughbred club. Grab your fancy hats and dapper suits for opening day at the horse races.
Comic-Con: July 20-23
Pop culture fanatics flock to San Diego, most likely dressed as their favorite superheroes. Even if you’re not attending Comic-Con it’s fun to people watch in Downtown San Diego as attendees make their way to the convention center. Make Comic-Con extra fun by staying in Coronado and take the ferry over, or stay in Carlsbad and take the train along the coastline for a day of comics and pop culture fun! It’s also a great way to bypass event traffic and crowds.
4th of July
With miles of coastline you’ll find a lot of beach inspired 4th of July celebrations throughout San Diego. From the “Big Bay Boom” Fireworks show, Red, White, and Boom! at Legoland, and Sea World’s San Diego Summer Nights, you and your family have a lot to choose from on Independence Day.

Kaaboo: September 15-17
Enjoy San Diego’s unique 3-day music festival that combines live music, incredible cuisine, stand-up comedy and inspiring contemporary art! A fun escape for music lovers, foodies and art enthusiasts!
San Diego Restaurant Week: September 24 – October 1
A foodie favorite! Experience a celebration of local cuisine. A full week dedicated to showcasing the diverse and upcoming culinary world in San Diego County. Enjoy special Restaurant Week menu’s at over 180 restaurants, giving you a sample of each restaurants best. Check the San Diego Restaurant Week for a list of participants.

Breeders’ Cup: November 3-4
The Breeders Cup is making its debut at Del Mar’s iconic racetrack this November. From high-fashion to glamorous parties this 2-day event brings the best horses, trainers and owners from across the globe marking the unofficial culmination to racing season. Stay in the coastal beach community of Carlsbad and take the train down to Del Mar. It’s affordable, easy and a beautifully scenic start to a day at the races.

December Nights: December 1-2
This multicultural 2-day holiday event held in historical Balboa Park is fun for the entire family. Enjoy festive food, music and entertainment from around the world, and attractions throughout the park, including complimentary admission to Balboa Park museums from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m.
