Stars and Stripes Cake
Ingredients:
1 box yellow or angel food cake mix
2 cups water
1/3 cup vegetable oil
2 eggs
1 container whipped vanilla frosting
1/3 cup fresh blackberries
1 pint fresh strawberries
Pro tip: To keep cake fresh for longer, be sure to use whole, thoroughly dried berries.
Directions:
- Heat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pan) and bake the cake mix for 13×9-inch pan. Let cool for 10 minutes. Run knife around sides of pan to loosen cake. Remove from pan and place on cooling rack. Cool completely for 1 hour.
- Place cake on tray. Frost top and sides with frosting.
- For flag design, arrange blackberries in the upper left corner of frosted cake to create stars. Arrange strawberries in rows over frosted cake to create stripes. Store covered in refrigerator.
