The Greater Arnold area stretches approximately 47 miles along a section of California Scenic Highway 4 in the Central Sierra from Murphys over Ebbetts Pass. It includes the communities of Forest Meadows, Hathaway Pines, Avery, Arnold, Dorrington, Camp Connell, Bear Valley and Lake Alpine. General membership meetings are held bimonthly at various locations. With Lake Tahoe to the north and Yosemite National Park to the south, the town of Arnold boasts a truly central location in the Sierra. At the 4,000 foot elevation, you have the unique opportunity to pursue a wide and varied roster of activities year round. You can, literally, golf in the morning and ski all afternoon, and with excellent highway access.In addition to the attributes of mild climate and year-round recreation, Arnold is also the perfect place for an inexpensive family vacation and is just a three hour drive from the Bay Area. Lodging options include Bed and Breakfast Inns, reasonably priced and comfortable motels and year-round vacation cabin rentals, especially popular with families. Arnold serves as a gateway to the Calaveras Big Trees State Park, Stanislaus National Forest, Bear Valley winter and summer recreation areas and the spectacular wilderness areas beyond. Visitors find the relaxed pace, clean mountain air, starry nights and friendliness of the townsfolk make Arnold an excellent “home base”.
