"Founded in 1886, Afton, Oklahoma is a small town boasting several examples of classic Route 66 roadside architecture, water recreation and more. Explore nostalgic favorites such as a former D-X gas station, now beautifully restored as the Afton Station and serving as a visitor center for travelers. Afton Station also houses several vintage Packard automobiles which guests are invited to marvel at. Take a trek on one of two stretches of the nine-foot-wide original Route 66 known as the Ribbon Road.
Water sports enthusiasts and fishermen will find plenty of splash-filled fun at nearby Grand Lake o' the Cherokees. Grand Lake offers more than 46,500 surface acres and over 1,300 miles of shoreline. In the Afton area, guests can rent boats and jet skis, charter a yacht tour or go parasailing. Afton is also home to Darryl Starbird's National Rod & Custom Car Hall of Fame where you'll find over 50 exotic custom-built cars fueled by the imagination of Afton-native Darryl Starbird and memorabilia from his illustrious career.
